Server URL: https://www.natalchart.ai/mcp. It speaks the Model Context Protocol over streamable HTTP, so any client that supports remote MCP servers can use it. Ask your assistant for a birth chart, a compatibility reading or the best city to move to, and it calls the tools below for the numbers first.
Connect in two minutes
- Create a free API key. It starts with
nc_live_and is shown once. - Add the server to your assistant, as shown below for each client.
- Ask about a chart: “I was born on 6 September 1991 at 10:45 in Chornomorsk, Ukraine. What is my rising sign, and what does my 10th house say about work?”
Claude (claude.ai and Claude Desktop)
Open Settings, then Connectors, add a custom connector and paste this URL with your key in place of YOUR_KEY:
https://www.natalchart.ai/mcp?key=YOUR_KEY
ChatGPT
With developer mode turned on in ChatGPT’s settings, create a connector with the same URL and no authentication. The key travels inside the URL.
Claude Code
claude mcp add --transport http natalchart https://www.natalchart.ai/mcp \ --header "Authorization: Bearer YOUR_KEY"
Cursor
In ~/.cursor/mcp.json:
{
"mcpServers": {
"natalchart": {
"url": "https://www.natalchart.ai/mcp",
"headers": {
"Authorization": "Bearer YOUR_KEY"
}
}
}
}VS Code
In .vscode/mcp.json; VS Code asks for the key once and keeps it out of the file:
{
"inputs": [
{
"type": "promptString",
"id": "natalchart-key",
"description": "NatalChart.AI API key",
"password": true
}
],
"servers": {
"natalchart": {
"type": "http",
"url": "https://www.natalchart.ai/mcp",
"headers": {
"Authorization": "Bearer ${input:natalchart-key}"
}
}
}
}Tools
| Tool | Plan | What it returns |
|---|---|---|
natal_chart | Free | A natal chart from birth data. "part" picks what to return: full (everything: bodies with sign, degree, speed, retrograde flag and house; the angles; twelve Placidus cusps; aspects with orbs; element and quality balance; fixed-star contacts), short (Sun, Moon and Ascendant, each body's sign, retrograde bodies, dominant element and quality), or one part: planets, angles, houses, aspects, elements, fixed-stars. Full by default. |
daily_transits | Free | The calculated day: the sky at noon UTC, the Moon's phase, the sky events of the coming week and, with birth data, every transit to the natal chart with its orb. No generated text. |
sky | Free | Planetary positions, Moon phase and the coming week's sky events for a date (?date=YYYY-MM-DD, today by default). |
usage | Free | Your plan, today's count and when the pool refills. Costs nothing. |
transits | API Pro | Every transit event in a window of up to 92 days: exact transit-to-natal aspects by date, sign ingresses and stations. |
synastry | API Pro | Two charts compared: inter-chart aspects with orbs, house overlays both ways and a score per life sphere. |
solar_return | API Pro | The solar return chart for a year, cast for the birth place or another location. |
best_days | API Pro | Every day of a window of up to 62 days scored for one activity (general, business, romance, health, creative, travel, home, clarity): helping and hindering transits, Moon phase and sign, void of course. The five best days first. |
location_score | API Pro | One place against one chart: the relocated angles, the planets on them with orbs, and a score for each life sphere. |
best_cities | API Pro | The catalogue of major cities ranked for one chart, overall or by chosen life spheres, worldwide or in one region. |
Birth data is the same everywhere: date as YYYY-MM-DD, time as local HH:mm or null when unknown, latitude and longitude, and an optional IANA timezone. Assistants look up the coordinates of a birth place themselves. With an unknown time, everything that depends on it (the Ascendant, the houses) is withheld rather than guessed.
Limits and price
| Plan | Price | Tool calls | Tools |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | 10 a day | natal_chart, daily_transits, sky, usage |
| API Pro | $6.99 a month | 1,000 a day | Every tool: transits, synastry, solar return, best days, locations |
The MCP server is part of the NatalChart.AI API: one key, one daily pool, one subscription. A call that fails validation costs nothing, a Pro tool called on a free key answers with how to get it, and usage is always free.
Why a calculation server
Language models are good at explaining a chart and bad at computing one: asked for a Moon sign or an Ascendant from memory, they often get it wrong, and nothing in the answer shows it. With this server the positions come from the Swiss Ephemeris, the same engine the NatalChart.AI chart calculator uses and that the accuracy report checks against NASA’s JPL Horizons. The model then does what it is good at.
Questions
What is an MCP server?
MCP, the Model Context Protocol, is how AI assistants call outside tools. Once this server is connected, the assistant can compute a chart instead of guessing one: it calls natal_chart with the birth data you gave it and reads real positions, houses and aspects before it answers.
Does the server write the readings?
No. Every tool returns calculations as JSON and nothing else: no generated text and no AI on our side. Your assistant writes the interpretation, from numbers that are right.
Do I need to write code?
No. Create a free key, paste one URL into Claude or ChatGPT as a custom connector, and ask about a chart. Developers can add the same server to Claude Code, Cursor or VS Code with the key in a header.
How many calls can I make?
Each tool call spends one request: 10 a day on the free plan, 1,000 a day on API Pro ($6.99 a month). The MCP server and the REST API share the same key and the same daily pool, which refills at 00:00 UTC. Connecting and listing the tools costs nothing.
Is it safe to put my key in the URL?
Treat that URL like a password: anyone who has it can spend your daily requests. Clients that accept headers (Claude Code, Cursor, VS Code) should send the key as Authorization: Bearer instead. A leaked key can be revoked at once in the dashboard.
Is the birth data stored?
No. The server computes and answers; request bodies are never written anywhere. The log keeps the tool name, the status and the time it took.
Which zodiac and house system does it use?
Tropical zodiac and Placidus houses, the five major aspects, the same settings as the NatalChart.AI app. Sidereal, Vedic and other house systems are not offered.
