Six Spheres of the Natal Chart
Self, Heart, Body, Matter, Roots, Mind — six life spheres derived from real chart factors. A practical lens for reading the chart without astrology jargon.
The six spheres
- Self — identity, presence, the way you show up in the world. Drawn primarily from the Sun, Ascendant, 1st house and chart ruler.
- Heart — love, relationships, what you value. Drawn from Venus, Moon, the 5th and 7th houses, and relevant aspects.
- Body — physical vitality, somatic rhythm, energy. Drawn from Mars, the Ascendant, the 6th house, and aspects to vitality factors.
- Matter — work, money, the material plane. Drawn from Saturn, the 2nd, 6th and 10th houses, and MC/Saturn aspects.
- Roots — family, home, ancestry, where you come from. Drawn from the Moon, IC, 4th house, and Pluto / Lunar Node aspects.
- Mind — thinking, communication, learning. Drawn from Mercury, the 3rd and 9th houses, and aspects to Mercury.
How the scores are computed
- Each sphere has a defined relevance vector across planets, houses, and aspect types.
- Your chart factors are matched against that vector and combined into a score per sphere.
- The chart-locked AI reading explains what each sphere’s score is reflecting, citing the actual placements and aspects behind it.
- Scores don’t predict outcomes — they describe how loud each sphere is in the chart right now.
Why this lens
Twelve houses are correct but technical. Most people don’t think in “5th house creative self-expression with Sun on Leo cusp” — they think in love, body, work, family, learning. The six-sphere lens maps the chart onto language people already use, without throwing away the underlying factors.
Frequently asked questions
What are the six spheres?
Self, Heart, Body, Matter, Roots, and Mind. They are six broad life domains used as a practical lens for reading the natal chart. Each sphere has a relevance weighting across planets, signs and houses, so the chart's content can be summarised in plain language.
Where do the sphere scores come from?
From your actual chart. Each sphere has a defined set of weights over planets, houses and aspect types. NatalChart.AI computes each sphere's score by combining your real placements with those weights, so the score is anchored to the chart rather than guessed.
Why six spheres instead of twelve houses?
Twelve houses are the traditional astrology lens, and they are still in the chart. Six spheres are a higher-level practical lens that maps multiple chart factors onto everyday life domains. They make a chart easier to read at a glance without dumbing it down.
Are the spheres deterministic?
No. Astrology is symbolic. The spheres describe themes that show up more or less prominently in the chart — they don't predict outcomes. The AI frames each sphere as a reflective lens, not a verdict.
