Year ahead

Solar Return Chart

The exact moment the Sun comes back to your natal degree — to the arc-second — calculated for where you are now, with a chart-grounded AI reading of the year ahead.

What the chart tells you

  • Solar Return Ascendant and houses — the rising sign and house cusps for the year, computed for your current location.
  • Every planet’s placement in the Solar Return chart, by sign and house.
  • Aspects between Solar Return and natal — how the year’s chart speaks to your birth chart.
  • Themes by sphere — how the year may land across Self, Heart, Body, Matter, Roots, Mind.

How it’s calculated

  1. Solar Return moment — Swiss Ephemeris finds when the transiting Sun reaches your natal Sun longitude to arc-second precision.
  2. Your current location determines the houses and angles. The same moment produces different charts in different places.
  3. Full chart computation — planets, house cusps, aspects with orbs, all derived from the return moment.
  4. Chart-locked AI reading — only real placements and real aspects are explained.

How it complements transits

Transits are the day-by-day weather over your natal chart. Solar Return is the climate of the year. Reading them together gives both the long-form theme of the year and the specific moments when something is most active.

Frequently asked questions

What is a Solar Return chart?

A Solar Return chart is the chart cast for the exact moment the Sun returns to the same zodiac degree, minute and second it occupied at your birth — i.e. your astrological birthday, not just the calendar date. The chart is calculated for your current location and gives a snapshot of the year between two solar returns.

How is it calculated?

Swiss Ephemeris finds the precise moment the transiting Sun reaches the natal Sun's longitude (to the arc-second). NatalChart.AI computes a full chart for that moment using your current location, including new houses, new angles and new aspects valid for the coming year.

Why does location matter?

The Solar Return Sun is in the same place in the zodiac, but the houses and angles are recomputed for wherever you are when the return occurs. Spending the return in a different location produces a different Solar Return chart. Many astrologers travel deliberately to shift the year's emphasis.

How is this different from a horoscope?

A horoscope is generic sun-sign text. A Solar Return is an actual chart with twelve houses, every planet, and every aspect — specific to you, your year, and your location. The reading explains real placements, not stock zodiac themes.

Will the AI predict what will happen this year?

It will describe themes the chart suggests and the kinds of questions the year may surface. Astrology is symbolic — the AI is constrained to explain real factors of the calculated chart, not to forecast events as inevitable.
